voices of RESILIENCE is a conference for CONNECTION, HEALING, AND LEARNING. We will move forward with understanding and renewed strength that will be passed down through generations.

Atrocities like the Genocide against the Tutsi have taken countless human lives and devastated nations and communities throughout history. But when the violence ends, those who survive are left with trauma and fear so deep that it can be passed down through generations.

Today, there are hundreds of thousands of people who have survived atrocities but are living with dark shadows of fear and pain.

At Voices of Resilience, we will bring light into the shadows by sharing truth and experiencing healing together. At Voices of Resilience, we will bring light into the shadows by sharing truth and experiencing healing together. We will harness the resilience that survivors of genocide have cultivated in their lives to move forward with understanding and renewed strength that will be passed down through generations.

WE ARE deliberately fostering an environment for healing and understanding in the aftermath of genocide.

OUR GOALS

  • We will encourage open and honest dialogue among survivors, experts, practitioners, academics, advocates, and artists to foster understanding and empathy. By bringing together a range of unique experiences and connections to Genocide, survivors and allies can help guide how the broader public understands these events, and collectively prevent the escalation of conflict into violence.

  • Voices of Resilience will commemorate those lost in the Genocide, honoring their memories and acknowledging the collective grief experienced by survivors and their children. Survivors will have the opportunity to mourn together and share personal experiences of loss in a place of compassion and shared understanding.

  • We will facilitate emotional and psychological healing through presentations and interactive workshops hosted by mental health experts. Attendees will learn about the profound impact of trauma on themselves and their communities, while learning techniques for healing and breaking cycles of generational trauma.
